We write to taste life twice, in the moment and in retrospection.

Conversation has a kind of charm about it, an insuating and insidious something that elicits secrets from us just like love or liquor.
Lucius Annaeus Seneca

a laugh a day keeps the posers away

during much of the time that i think during the day, it is about people. I am always wondering why and analyzing why certain people do or say the things that they do. even if they are not intentionally trying to tell me something, i read into it just knowing that they must be subconsciously trying to give me a message. obviously, this can easily put my emotions in trouble. I’d be lying if i said that all of my thoughts are rational. I read a quote today which gave me enough motivation to finally write in my blog.

“If you wish to glimpse inside a human soul and get to know a man, don’t bother analyzing his ways of being silent, of talking, of weeping, of seeing how much he is moved by noble ideas. you will get better results if you just watch him laugh. if he laughs well, he’s a good man.” -Feodor Dostoevsky

What i like most about this quote is that i actually understand it. I know that a few years ago if i read this quote i would think that it’s alright or just skim over it. but i get it, and i know exactly what he means when he says to just watch him laugh.

i always thought that the way to see someone’s soul is look into their eyes. you can tell so much by just looking into someones eyes. i don’t see good in most people. actually i don’t see much. most people cannot think for themselves. all of their decisions are made by watching the media, waiting for someone else to tell them what to do, or just going by some sort of routine. those people make it bad for all of us. they are the ones who have no purpose in life. their drive is based on bad morals, and for some strange fucking reason- they have convinced themselves that what they are doing is right.

“The burden of originality is one that most people don’t want to accept. They’d rather sit in front of the TV and let that tell them what they’re supposed to like, what they’re supposed to buy, and what they’re supposed to laugh at.” Marilyn Manson

but then there are the people who laugh well. if you actually take a minute, and think about this .. it will probably make you wonder about some people. and it will for sure make you smile a little bit.

“I love people who make me laugh. I honestly think it’s the thing I like most, to laugh. It cures a multitude of ills. It’s probably the most important thing in a person.” - Audrey Hepburn
